Crisis? Gosh, geewillikers - I’m think I’m beginning to sound like a politician!
But think about what is going on today. Our government is poised to take over a major chunk of our economy - the health care sector. Just last week, they unveilled just some of the coming fees, taxes and other revenue enhancements they plan to invoke to pay for it. Come on now - you didn’t think they revealed everything do you?
A few days ago someone sent me a tongue in cheek email about reasons to vote Democrat. I added a couple of my own and passed it on suggesting others do the same. Since I received a couple of responses, most with additions. I think this has struck a chord.
Once again I was fooled. I saw this and I thought “they have GOT to be kidding!”. Nope.
In the first place I had no idea folks were saying this about this guy. None. But yesterday I found out Obama was interviewed on The Today Show where he was asked how he would handle such “high expectations.
I spent far to much time watching the Senate Agriculture hearings one the Fannie Mae Freddie Mac debacle. Why The Ag committee? I asked that myself at first but someone brought up futures and the commodities markets do play in this somewhat. Plus the USDA also runs a housing program the Rural Housing Administration I think it’s called. It used to be FMHA. Read the rest of this entry »
Combining the current and future economic upheaval with the elections we may have some very tough times ahead.
Please keep in mind as Christians, we need to put our trust in God, NOT the Presidency and NOT the economy. Even if we are hurled into a new Depression, even if Barack Obama becomes President and declares martial law - God is still Sovereign.
However, I thought you should be aware of some of the undertones in this election.
You might be suprised. The video below does an excellent job explaining it. Best of all it’s backed by solid research and shows you where to find the facts for yourself.
As I’ve been saying (or implying) all along - the Fred/Fan Fiasco was caused by bad governmen forced on us by liberal Democrats - NOT Republicans. Having said this, I will add that not all Republicans are innocent in this. Not all Democrats are guilty. However leading the pack of those who have hurt our nation the most is none other than Barack Obama.
Notes on this video: There’s a LOT of information and it goes fast. Keep your mouse on the pause button so you can absorb what’s being said. Also the background music is 80’s pop/rock - there’s no real information on the audio so if you don’t care for the music you won’t miss anything by muting it.
Here’s the video
A personal note, my wife and I bought our house 4 years ago. We experienced first hand how the mortgage lenders pushed folks to borrow much more than was prudent. We resisted because, thank God, we have a good handle on what we can afford and what we cannot. We also opted for a fixed mortgage.
I can tell you this - the pressure was extreme. And we were dealing with top financial companies too. Was greed a factor? Sure it was. But we couldn’t believe lenders were allowed to even offer such incredibly shaky deals. And now I know why.
One other note on last night’s Presidential Debates. I was impressed by McCain and that surprised me. While I don’t care for the all the foolishness on both sides - like shading what the opponent said or voted for or against, I liked the message McCain presented.
I like his focus on getting a handle on spending.
I like his approach to health care - despite the Obama camps idiotic representation - and, yes I DO mean idiotic! The last thing we need is Freddie Mac for Health care.
Obama offers nothing but disdain for McCain’s $300 Billion tax cut. “We’re going to give all this money to the rich and to business”. Um, Barrack, just a hint here - WE are not GIVING this money to anyone - McCain is proposing NOT TAKING it in the first place.
Tax cuts are proven to grow the economy. It takes a while but Kennedy did it. Reagan did it.
Furthermore, business doesn’t pay taxes. People do. If you sell something for a dollar and making a 25% profit when the govermemnt impostes a 35% tax on you - what’s going to happen? Your customers are going to pay more. You’re not going to stop putting food on your table to pay Uncle Sam!
Let me be clear here: Bunko means Fraud. Hear me out.
First, let’s put the players aside. Democrats, Republicans, the Bush administration, those running Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Forget about them for a second. Let’s take at look at just the bailout itself.
What do they want to do? “Takeover” Fred/Fan and dump $700 BILLION of OUR money into these failed operations. What do we get for all that cash? Overpriced real estate. Or at least the right to forclose on it.. Let’s forget about that for a second.
What if the real estate is worth $700 Billion? Okay. What happens? The Feds sell it. Where does the money go? Into the Federal Treasury. What happens then? Congress spends it.
It’s a total sham. It’s absolute proof we should NEVER allow the government to do what private industry can do. Remember Adelphia Cable? John Rigas is sitting in jail. I grew up in John’s home town. I’ve eaten many times in the family restaurant - “The Texas Hot” (No, I don’t know how they came up with the name - the restaurant is in a small town in Western New York.) Many feel John Rigas was railroaded. I’ll tell you this much…
What John Rigas did, if he did break the law, was nothing compared to the brutal rape of Freddie Mac and Fannie May . I am angry. VERY angry.
There is some hope. The FBI is now apparently investigating Fred/Fan. But who will investigate Chris Dodd, Barak Obama and the gang? Don’t hold your breath.
For the record, even CNN reported last night saying a poll they took of citizens indicates most of us are NOT happy about this bailout.
Also for the record: It’s the house Republicans taking a stand against this bailout. Is this a “purely political move” because they want to get in good with the American people? Possibly. However this begs the question: What are the rest of the politicians doing?
