Welcome to the Internet - The New GrassRoots
Wednesday, November 7th, 2007
I’ve been thinking this for a long time and now I’m blogging about it.
The fact is there’s no reason the current political party system cannot be uprooted and replaced by grassroots organizations.
Now before you accuse me of “going liberal” - I’ll remind you I’m so conservative I make
.
Rush Limbaugh look just a little left of (I can’t bring myself to type the name!) that carpetbagging b-with-an-itch who wants to vacate her NY State Senate seat for the Oval Office.
Sorry Rush.
So what’s my idea? The write-in vote. Radical, yes but feasible.
Here in Maryland especially. See we’ve got these electronic voting machines that make it easy. (I once almost shut down an election because the officials at my polling place had no clue how to accept a write-in vote - and THATS a big no-no!)
Here’s the idea…set up a web site to run for office…any office. I might run for Congress myself next time around. Now run a campaign totally from the Internet.
What’s the advantages? Gee, lets see.
Cost: next to nothing
Reach: anyone with Internet access
Message: loud and clear and somewhat permament.
The only question is…will this idea catch on? Who knows? It ought to but ought doesn’t make things so.
Time will tell.
